The wolf was the symbol of Romania in Medieval times and the eagle and the cross are on the present emblem of Romania.

  1. Thank you! I don't enjoy writing with promts but it's for discipline! Thought Romanian deserved a Haiku! Especially the Carpathian mountains which are amazing!

  3. And I did get an answer to your A to Z question. If you are blogging twice a day, that's cool. Just be sure to label which one is the A to Z post.

    1. It was taken last summer while hiking in Ciucas Mountains. I love that part of the Carpathians.

And even if you come back to see everything with new eyes, the picture would be the same: beautiful places unrespeced, unknown, unappreciated by Romanians. Unfortunatelly you'd pretty much find what you left.

  5. Lovely! I have great respect for wolves. I'm always glad to hear when there's a positive reflection of them somewhere.

  6. Oh, wolves are very well rooted in our mythology and folklore. Our mythology is very extensive but little explored. I plan to work on that.

  8. I love wolves, but didn't realize they were the symbol of Romania back then. That is cool!

  9. The wolf is kind a cool symbol, but the eagle and cross are more uplifting. Probably a smart marketing move to change the symbols, though I guess it wasn't intended as marketing. Or was it?

    1. Nope, no marketing there, I suppose, since this change was made long ago.

  11. Thank you, Christine! I love taking pictures and it just felt right for this haiku. Unfortunately I don't have design skills - it could have looked better!
